Day 3

Day 3 was marked by an exciting Code Blue Conference at the end of the day. The students are doing a medical simulation, called Code Blue, in which they must perform a series of tasks as a certain specialty of medical doctor. There are 4 groups (Medical Centers that they named themselves) in our classroom with 6 students in each, each student having a specific speciality (Cardiologist, Neurologist, etc.). Students have been engaged in creating models and learning about their specialities. Today, specialists from each group got together in order to show off their models and teach each other what they have learned (Cardiologists all got together, Neurologists from each Medical Center got together, etc.). After presenting, each student had to take a Board Exam in their specialty. Students needed to get an 80% on the board exam for their speciality in order to move on to the next task (presenting their model/speciality to their Medical Center). I was seriously channeling Grey's Anatomy when April fails her exams. Students who did not "pass the boards" will retake them tomorrow before they can move on, and are studying tonight. As any excited student teacher would, I looked ahead to see what's in store for this great group of doctors. After presenting, they will be taking a general medical exam (about ALL specialities), deciding how to spend their allotted money on medical supplies, making medical decisions based on situations given and their new medical knowledge, and finishing off strong with a performance task called Grand Rounds. Stay tuned to hear what all this is about..I know I will.

So, what to wear while being a medical doctor/student teacher? Old Navy fleeces are my perfect go-to when wanting to be comfy and professional. A white (AH!) fleece paired with a patterned scarf and brown cords (and UGG clogs, no shame), today was a good day.
